O.k. so how crazy is this! Monday night I jogged 3 miles – with steps and burpees in between – tonight I jogged 3 miles straight and then did another mile after steps and burpees in between! 4 miles! I can remember the first time I tried jogging half a mile and truly thought I was going to fall over dead - no joke – and now… wow! I am so excited! Do I love to run – no, but I love knowing I accomplished it and can continue doing it!
I have been researching 5K’s in the area and have found some and plan on signing up – crazy – I know! I loved walking the 12K after the first FFC1 was done so I thought I might as well attempt a 5K, thinking I would run as long as I could and then walk – but tonight I proved that I can actually do the whole thing! So yeah… that is a new adventure for me. I am hoping to have some fellow FFC contestants that will join me though as it is much more fun with friends!
So I lost one point something pounds tonight – not thrilled but ya know what I am just so happy and blessed to be where I am in weight and mostly in my ability to workout and accomplish things that were long ago far off dreams.
Well, I am off to take a shower and get rid of the stink and go to sleep! So good night!

The Fort Steilacoom Running Club has a well organized series of run/walk starting on New Year’s day….appropriately named the “Resolution Series”. On Jan 1, it is a 5 km/mile. At the end of Jan., you go 10 km/mi. In Feb, it is a 15 km/mi. And then concludes in March with a 20 km/mi. (or you can repeat the 5). You choose whether to do kilometer or miles.
Bloomsday, the first weekend of May-in Spokane, is worth the trip. There’s about 40,000-50,000 people doing a 12km. Everyone lines up by finishing times on the streets of downtown Spokane (with the elite runners in front and the strollers in the back). Waiting to begin can be chilly; so wear a sweatshirt that you would be willing to donate(as you start the race, everyone throws their sweatshirts in the branches of the trees that line the street & they are then collected for charity). There’s lots of entertainment/music along the whole route…you vote online afterwards. Several people “dress up” as various characters. T-shirts at the finish line. Celebration in Riverfront Park.

Thank you so much for the information! Do you have a website that I can find out more about all this?

Oooo, I love Bloomsday! I ran as a child and my extended family has a long history with the race. It always the first Sunday in May, get a room, find friends, it’s a-mazing I tell you. And I hate to run!
