So last night we showed up to Callaway ready for a grueling workout!  When arriving there was a HUGE inflatable obstacle course out in the parking lot (right next to Meridian!)  and guess what?  Yep, it was for Fit for a Cause!  How fun!  To be a kid again and play – well, NOT – this was of course for us to burn calories, compete, run through continuously as fast as we could, diving, climbing, jumping, pushing, whatever, to just keep moving and get through it!  You all were amazing!  And I must say it was a blast watching even though I wish I was participating!  A big thanks to Steve Pickel from Pickel’s Photography for running to keep up with everyone and taking photos!

I was the second in line to go – very excited and ready to burn calories!  As Scott and Mike were betting how many I would burn – sorry to say they both lost.  I dove through the hole at the start of the course and didn’t move any further.  When doing that I completely re-injured my lower ab muscles again and honestly feel like I am back at square one if not worse.  So after catching my breath again, getting help off the obstacle course, when the tears dried up, and the pain diminished thanks to Theresa and her ibuprofen, I got to stand on the side lines and watch everyone else do a GREAT job with this fun and exciting new workout!  And yes, even some of the trainers, families (my hubby included) gave it a go!  Scott is now called the Monkey as he is so fast you can barely keep up watching him – you rock!

So today my doctor took a look and yes, it is definitely strained and if doesn’t start to heal like last time then we would have to do xrays, etc. but all in all just seems like the same injury.  He did give me a wrap to wear at least during exercise and of course told me to take it easy – which there is no way I could attempt a sit up or anything right now anyways, so no worries there!  So a little ibuprofen will take the edge off and of course I am praying for a quick and complete recovery so I can get the snot beat out of me again by those wonderful trainers (hahahaha – we love you – no, really we do!)

Monday night was another beautiful sunny day and warm evening so we had the joy of working out outside again!  I will take it while I can!  I was so exhausted heading to the gym that I actually stopped and got a Fit for a Cause coffee drink from Forza.  I know bad but the calories were included in my daily intake but Niki from Niks Piks Photography also noticed that I seemed more tired at the beginning of the workout and fired up by the end – ready to go!  That is what exercise does to me – I might be hurting, sweating, and needing water, but in the end I feel GREAT!  I am so proud of the Rockin Red – way to hang in there!  Jeff thanks for pushing me and hanging tough!  Here are some photos for you to enjoy thanks to Nickie Robbs with NiksPiks photography!

Well, tonight was the fabulous weekly weigh in again!  The RED TEAM WON!!  Rockin Red that is what they are – love you guys!  I was ’safe’ first time ever in 15 weigh ins… ugh!  Yeah… my bad though, no one elses.  With being injured my workouts have not been as hardcore as normal (until this week that is) and my eating was off – but not anymore!  Oh for those of you that don’t know what safe means… well, it means you either didn’t gain or lose, or you gained.  And I am sad to say that I had gained since the last weigh in – but watch it come off this next week… I am determined and then some right now.

Abs.. yep, still sore but I can tell it is healing.  I tried doing a push up and kind of got stuck cause of the pain so I have been sticking to alot squats these days and let me tell you what after tonight’s workout – yeah… the thought of walking normal… not so much… it seems like a dream at this moment!  We role played tonight and our trainers were our leaders in boot camp (military) too funny!  But yes, they enjoyed pushin us around and calling us names (hahaha!)  So we did alot of variety of exercise and man… these workouts definitely seem more intense than the first FFC… and everyone is so awesome – they stick to it, push through the pain, and give their all!  Way to go you guys!

Bring it on!

So we did end with a competition tonight where we had to run around the whole outside of the buildings as fast as we could… I need to find out what the distance is… but this is after all the other workouts and running around the building with our teams.  So yeah… we had to line up and take off and man do we have some competitors… I remember when I was only in this for a few weeks – there is no way I could’ve ran the whole way so everyone… blue, black, and red totally impressed me!  We had to do this twice and the first time I came in first – dying might I add!  But I won 6 personal training sessions with Scott!  Yipppeee!  I am thrilled, I need that one on one time and I know Scott will push and push, and well push some more!  So yeah… I am looking forward to that!

Almost to the finish line!
Almost to the finish line!

What else… oh… well, just hope I can get out of bed in the morning as tonight when I was cleaning the church I could barely go up and down the stairs – these legs better look good some day!  No pain, no gain, right?  Come on, I need some encouragement here (smile!)

Well, we had a GREAT workout last night!  They are really kickin some contestant bootie with all the circuit training going on!  That was my absolute favorite in FFC1 and I must say I still love it!  I am so proud of the RED team!  Well, everyone but of course I am partial to the RED team!  Way to push through the pain and give your all!  I know there are moments when we all feel like we want to collapse but it is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it.  No cameras going on Wednesday night and let me tell you what – that would’ve been a lot of sweaty photos!

Well, Monday…. I did alot of squats since I was not to work any abs and let me tell you what!  I woke up Tuesday, Wednesday, and yes today rolling out of bed and walking like I have never exercised before!  So yep, I got a work out and may feel it right now but I will stretch, warm up, and give it my all still!  I want to get to a place though that I push myself like that on my own and not just during team workouts.  I will work out on my own but feel as if I don’t go to the limits like when there with all 30 contestants.  Of course there is the energy, the team spirit, the encouragement, etc. going on but that is my goal beyond this 12 weeks is to always push myself as if I was with everyone else working out.

Well… weigh in is tonight so I will keep you posted!

So I think I would rather be in labor than do the work out today!  hahaha!  It felt GREAT to get back out there tonight!  I am still taking it easy when it comes to certain activities that will work the abs but otherwise I was sweatin, huffin and puffin, and pushin through the pain with everyone else!  I must be crazy, cause I am glutton for punishment – I love it!  Maybe not in the midst of it but knowing that I burned those calories and am continuing to get in shape and get control of my physical body – oh yeah!

We were short some contestants tonight due to the holiday… hmmm… and our black team trainer too!  Of course they were all greatly missed but we decided extra pounds should be added on to them at the weigh in (hahaha!)  Just kiddin!  I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend and didn’t ’splurge’ too much!  I know I had an espresso explosion ice cream while walking along Long Beach with the kiddos – yep… gotta work that baby off but it was good!

Every Thursday... the numbers will show!

Every Thursday... the numbers will show!

Last night the numbers rang true to everyone’s hard work and determination!   I must say this crew definitely seems so different than the first 30 contestants.  Come weekly weigh-ins a lot of us were stressing out whereas everyone seems ready to get on the scale – or at least they are great at pretending!  I am wondering with having the body bugg though if that is giving them a better idea as to how much weight they are losing since not only can they track their calories but how many they actually burn throughout the day.  I also was thinking they obviously have seen the results of 30 contestants and have heard our stories and kind of know what to expect when it comes to work outs, weigh-ins, and eating so that too must make things a little easier.  Who knows… if any of you want to comment I would love to hear your take on it!

So I weighed in and lost 1.6 pounds and was thrilled!  I wasn’t expecting any drastic amount with the lower key exercise I have been doing so I am happy and will work from here!  I did get to join everyone in Zumba last night – oh yeah!  I actually did fairly well and just didn’t do certain movements to cause any pain so that way I can have a complete recovery!  If you know anything about me, Zumba was not my favorite exercise at all but I must say I think it is growing on me – or at least the fact that I know it is a huge calorie burner gets me excited!  But once again, all the FFC2 contestants rocked the house!  Everyone seemed to keep an upbeat spirit and give their all in class – way to go!  I must say… Kayla you did awesome with helping to lead!  How fun that you are now certified!

ZUMBA!

So weekly weight is dropping and there will be drastic results in 10 more weeks for you all to see and hear of!  Not only does the exercise play a part but they say 80 -90 percent of it is how you eat.  So what are you fueling your body with?  Well, we are all changing our lifestyles to eat healthier and consume good calories!  This will give us the energy we need instead of those ‘quick’ pick me up items that end up dropping you further than you ever were – hmmm…. could this be chocolate!  So not only are we to weigh in on a scale but yes… we should be weighing our food and measuring, and eatting smaller portions throughout the day… because portions are important!

Food scales!

Food scales!

Wow – circuit training time for FFC2!!  I love it!  Well, I don’t like the fact that I can not participate right now but circuit training has always been my favorite!  Tonight they had everyone start on the cardio machines until they were called out – 2 by 2 and then they started circuit stations – outside and did it continuous for over an hour!  Oh yeah!!  Everyone stuck to it and pushed through the exhaustion and pain and sweat – way to go!!  I worked out on the elliptical for 45 minutes – and did work up a nice sweat which felt good and then joined the teams outside where I walked around the building continuously until we stopped to step on the curb until finishing time.  I did try to jog and decided not to due to pain as my goal is to take it easy and let this heal quickly instead of pushing myself and making things worse.

So tomorrow is weigh in – I am not nervous – but honestly am not expecting any major results, hoping for atleast a decrease and not an increase!  But my activity has definitely been less so I am going to have to STEP IT UP when I am back to being able to workout with the team.  I am taking notes of what I am missing so I can make up for it – cause I need to get back in there with everyone else!

I used to get teased last FFC about how serious I am during workouts and focused – well, tonight one of the ladies caught on and asked “are you focusing so you don’t feel the pain?”  I had to laugh, cause I do without even thinking about it – I focus and zone everything out and it allows me to finish what I start – crazy, eh?  Who knows… but it seems to work!

O.k. so last night… not so good of a night for me… but ROCKIN for RED!  They kicked some black and blue bootie!  Well, as far as I know anyways!  Everyone had to do a continuous circuit training for an hour and my did they all push through, I am so proud of all of you!  Then from what I was told they went outside and had a competition of pushing something around as a team and yep, RED won!  Someone comment on this and give me the details!  Thanks Mike for the free smoothies for the winners!

So here is my follow up:  I went to work out – excited and ready to burn some calories!  I knew what Scott had told me but obviously wasn’t thinking (duh!)  I just assumed I was supposed to do the team workouts – as if you know me, I am not one to quit or give up lightly!  So I jogged my lap, went to do 10 push-ups (and grunted through them in pain while having to do them from my knees), but what did I stop?  No… I had to continue on – dumb me!  I went to the burpee station where we are supposed to do 10 of them.  Yeah… I went up in the air, put it down on the ground and went to jump my legs out and instead… well, pretty much collapsed and cried like a baby!  Excruciating pain that is for sure!  So I am now not to participate in team workouts for the week but you know I will be there – cheering them on and doing whatever I can like walking on the treadmill.  I must say – the pain is agonizing but the hardest part for me is not being able to work out and knowing I cried like a baby last night!  UGH!

I have strained my lower abdomen

I have strained my lower abdomen

Well, here I thought I was sore but yesterday while working out I realized this is much more than just being sore!  I have pulled something in my abs and let me tell you what – it hurts!  Scott, my trainer told me to stretch it out by laying on my back over a ball and not to do any core strengthening until it heals (thank you Scott for getting back to me!).  So yeah… sooner than later would be best as just turning over in bed irritates it as well.  Who would’ve guessed… hmmm… not me!  I will keep you posted!

So out of the three teams there was something like 123 pounds shed just since Monday!  That is FABULOUS!  I am so completely in shock and excited for everyone – no more going back there – yeah!!  I can’t imagine what next weeks weigh in will be like!
Everyone after Thursday's weigh in!
Everyone after Thursday

Well, I only lost .6 pounds but to be honest was happy about that as I wasn’t expecting too much this week – but next week – now that is a different story!  I was thinking I would be sore after yesterdays workout but woke up feeling GREAT so that was a good sign!  However, I came home and did 100 sit ups so yeah… my abs were quite sore today and I am sure will be sore tomorrow too!  I remember the first week for me and me oh my, I was walking funny, loving relaxing baths, and begging for a massage – so those of you that may feel that way – chin up as this shall surely pass!  Keep it up!

I would just like to say “Thank You” to Steven Pickel from Pickel’s Photography for the photos!  Check out our RED team – we definitely ROCK!!
